Elm Class

Welcome to Elm Class


In Elm class, we have settled into our new classroom. This term during English we will be looking at two focus book ‘Wild’ and ‘Traction Man’ both very different stories. We have been focusing on using nouns, adjectives, verbs and ensuring our writing makes sense by evaluating and editing. For our big writes we will be writing an independent story and comic strip. In Science we will be learning about the environment, historical scientist and inventors which will involve many practical activities.

Elm class will be learning about the Great Fire of London and the North Pole. We recently visited Canley Fire Station for our first class trip. Green Watch very kindly taught us all about the Great Fire of London and then we got to go on a fire engine and tried on some of the uniform and protective clothing!

In Maths lessons, we will be focus on our times tables, addition and subtraction and multiplication and division. Elm’s main focus is ‘reasoning’ and applying their reasoning skills to all aspects of the mathematical curriculum.

We will be focusing on working together and the word ‘team’ we will be completed lots of different practical activities during our thrive time. Alongside this we will be focusing recognising our emotions and how to overcome difficulties.

Finally we will be visiting Dudley zoo to see the different animals hand enjoy a Mad Hatters Tea Party!
