Welcome to Oak Class
This half term Oak Class have been settling in well to the new school year. In English we have been reading Egyptian Cinderella, writing descriptions of settings and characters and adapting traditional tales to be set in Ancient Egypt. We have enjoyed some acting and also some art lessons to design new shoes for the Egyptian Cinderella. This links to our Topic of Ancient Egypt where we have been learning about the River Nile, mummification, Tutankhamun and plenty more. We have incorporated our Art and Design Technology skills into Topic by making chalk drawings of the River Nile, building tombs from lego and making death masks from papier mache.
This half term in maths we are learning about place value, addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, fractions, measures and statistics. We are learning our times tables and also practising our mastery skills on Mathletics in the mornings.
Oak Class have been learning about equality in PSHE and accepting each other's differences. We are also having swimming lessons this half term and certain children have been chosen for Enrichment on a Friday afternoon where they go rock climbing.
