Last half term we worked hard and learnt lots of new things! In literacy we read The Gruffalo and Lost and Found. The children worked hard to describe the Gruffalo and some even created their own woodland creatures! For Lost and Found the children wrote a fact file about penguins and had a go at created their own versions of the story with different animals being lost and returned home! These were so fantastic some even ended up on our WOW wall in the school hall!!
In maths we did lots of counting in 2’s 5’s and 10’s and we also learned the first steps to help with multiplication using arrays.
As a link to the two stories the children studied the seasons and we even linked our ICT and took some amazing photographs to show evidence of winter! It was very cold outside but we braved it and I am glad we did as the photographs look amazing and our Governors agreed when they came to visit.
We also went on a winters walk around Coombe Park and the children behaved brilliantly! They looked under logs and around trees to see if they could find the Gruffalo but I think we scared him off with our laughing and playing!
And just for fun the circus came to town to teach us arrange of new skills including plate spinning, juggling and walking on the big ball! It was very tricky but all children did a great job and had a go at everything! Well done guys!
This half term we have already started readying stories with giants! We have been planting our own beanstalks and we are hoping they reach the clouds by Easter! We will also be blasting off to space and reading Beegu!
