Key Stage 3

All students have 3 x 55minute PE lessons per week. Students receive 6 blocks (different sporting activities) throughout the year. Each block will be between 8-12 lessons. Students are taught in mixed ability groups. Students have opportunity to learn and compete in invasion, aesthetic, rackets and fitness/ athletic activities


Typical sports studied:

Key stage 3: Basketball, Table tennis, badminton, tennis, football, rugby, trampolining, biking, athletics, cricket & rounder’s


Key Stage 4:

All Key Stage 4 students have one 55 minute lesson per week of core PE time to work on and develop the skills learnt at key stage 3. Students that take the level 1 / 2 First Award in Sport then have a further 3 55 minute lessons, 1 practical and 2 theory. Students will study the following units.


  • Fitness for Sport and Exercise
  • Practical Performance in Sport
  • Applying the Principles of personal training
  • The Mind, Body and Sports Performance
